Six Questions with Kris Bennett
It’s freezing cold in Pittsburgh, so Kris Bennett had a few minutes to answer these six questions (photo: Kris makes the most of a recent warm spell in Pittsburgh. Curved wall ride to turndown).
1. Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?
“Yes, Drink less ride more. Make things happen instead of talking about them. Make a full length Square One video. Film a part for Welcome to Pittsburgh 3.”
2. How was that mini ramp comp in Erie?
“It was awesome. The ramps there are really fun, and I hadn’t been there in a while. Plus, Todd (Walkowiak) mopped up the floor with the competition so that was fun to watch. Watch for the return of toddwalk.com.”
3. What’s new with Square One?
“We have a few new projects in the works I guess. We just launched a full mail-order site at shop.squareonebmx.com. We’re in the process of adding products to it, but soon it should be a fully legit mailorder site for all of the latest BMX parts and accessories. And as I said earlier, I’m committing to a Square One full length video hopefully done in time for the Christmas season of 08. We also just added Justin Simpson to the team. I guess that’s the newest news.”
4. What’s the best way to survive winter in Pittsburgh?
“That’s a tough one. This winter seems to be dragging on especially long. I guess you just have to look forward to the nice weather and make plans. It’s kind of cool to have a fresh start every year and get excited about stuff all over again. I really have some high expectations for the coming year, and I’m pretty excited for it. Aside from that I guess you just have to make due with indoor spots. Sometimes if the winter is milder you can get some digging done. That definitely hasn’t been the case this year though.”
5. Name three places you’d like to travel.
“I like to try and get to eastern PA every year to ride some trails. I usually make it there every year, but I don’t end up staying as long as I’d like. Hopefully this year that will change. Since the winter is dragging along, I’d like to hit some warm weather sometime sooner than later. Maybe Texas or California or somewhere like that. I’ve always really liked Vancouver too, so it would be nice to make it up there sometime too. ….or just the Northwest in general I guess. Oregon, Seattle… I really like the whole area quite a bit.”
6. Do you consider yourself a Super Taster?
“Ha, I used to think I was, but Biz kind of shot me down because of my liking for spicy foods. He said supertasters can’t handle hot stuff, so who knows? It would be a nice explanation for my limited diet that’s for sure.”
