Last night Nike hosted an art show in Hollywood featuring number plates designed by Cory Muth and our good friend, Don Pendleton (Don’s plate shown above). All of the number plates that appeared in the show will be up for auction over the coming weeks with all proceeds benefiting Stephen Murray, Mikey Aitken, and the Athlete Recovery Fund. Our good friend Don Pendleton is the first designer profiled in a new series from Mumble Magazine titled Little Giants. I’ve always enjoyed Don’s artwork and it’s amazing to see how much great stuff he can crank out in a very short amount of time…especially considering he has the messiest desktop I’ve ever seen (mine’s pretty close) and still runs OS9 on one of his computers. One of the hottest topics web dwellers love to anonymously rant about revolves around who “invented” the latest product advancement. Honestly, people rarely come up with ideas out of thin air. Every new idea is influenced by earlier ideas and there’s nothing wrong with this. To make any product look better and work better, there must be an existing product that people feel is inferior. Nothing is really new; it’s all been done before. What brings me to this post is an article I found about old Braun products and new Apple stuff. As a huge Apple fan, it was cool to see that even an innovative brand like Apple can find inspiration from the past.
