Mike Ardelean sent over this team photo of his last supper on the road before heading back home to SoCal. He flies back home today and we’ll definitely miss his phone. We’re not sure what mobile service provider Mike is with, but his cell kit has been our only link to the team. The team trip is going well. Both Dave T and Yeagle have given Dolecki plenty to shoot. Hopefully this won’t be the last team update.

Since Ryan and the crew are out on a road trip this week, I’ll fill in for Way Back When(sday). This is a little web edit that our good friend Will Stroud did for a site called freestylelivin.com. The site was affiliated with Target and gave a chance for kids to get a closer look at their favorite athletes. Snowboarder, Shawn White, also had a series. This was filmed when Ryan was living in Pittsburgh and has some cameos of Chris Doyle and Punjab. Check the video after the jump.
The Verde road trip has taken the team to Yellowstone. Instead of sending us some pics from a skatepark session, Mike Ardelean has delivered this photo of Rob Dolecki and Brian Yeagle taking in the majestic splendor known as Old Faithful. We’ll bring you some more action soon.
We’re big fans of Stew Johnson’s Anthem video and are excited about Anthem 2. Work on the video is underway and Brian Yeagle is working on a full part. Stew answers a few questions about Anthem 2 over on Defgrip.
We’ve been meaning to get the entire team together for a road trip for way too long now, but it became reality today. Ryan Barrett (pictured here with a door full of produce) put together a short journey off the beaten path that includes stops in Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. Mike Ardelean, Dave Thompson, and Brian Yeagle are packed in the van along with talented photographer/rider Rob Dolecki. The crew will drive, ride, camp, and explore big country for the next week. Kris Bennett was invited along for the ride, but spent the weekend in Baltimore judging the Dew Tour. We’ll take concrete parks and camping over clipboards and endless double tailwhips anyday. Thanks for the photo Mike. Please keep the updates coming.
keeping with the video theme on when(sday), I thought I’d post up the flier for the STOCK premier. It was filmed and edited by Cory Muth and Will Stroud. It was mainly an east coast video, however I still hear people reminiscing about good old videos and STOCK comes up. It mixed up a all styles of riding, a good vibe, and a great soundtrack. It might be hard to get your hands on a VHS copy of this guy(and a VCR these days!) but it is a must watch.
sidenote: that’s Chris Doyle doing a nothing on the flier. check his right pant leg. way back when we wore baggy jeans and 44T sprockets you’d have to roll up your jeans so they wouldn’t get caught in the chain!!
Toby Forte is the newest addition to the Verde team. We are proud to have him repping us in the UK. He is an all-around shredder who fits in perfectly. He has a jam coming up this weekend called “protect yer noggin”. Check the two and 8 site for more info on that (scroll down) as well as a sweet Ian Curtis / Joy Division shirt.
I was in SLC last week shooting with Dave and snapped a few shots of his bike. Dave’s testing our prototype frame, bars, and fork. Word from Dave is that everything is working perfectly and holding up just fine. Anyone who knows Dave and his riding style knows that if things are holding up for him, they’ll hold up for pretty much anyone…just see the post below…
Dave got some love up on the 5050 team section. Check their site for more pics, an interview with Dave, as well as a great new layout. They also have Verde completes in stock so swing by and check them out!
You are looking at the one of the best videos of all time: Stew Johnson’s 1201. I knew nothing about it at the time, or BMX videos in general. I had seen Mad Matt, Ride On, and Head First. All of which seemed a little distant from me. Maybe that is because I wasn’t riding vert (don’t get me wrong, those videos were groundbreaking and a must watch and include more than vert). But, I hadn’t seen anything that I could relate to until that glorious Christmas morning when I unwrapped this video. It must have been fate that my mom bought this video. I didn’t ask for it and she certainly didn’t know what she was buying! I watched 1201 nonstop. Stew went on to make lights out!, Anthem, and countless Props videos. He is currently filming for Anthem2 (Brian Yeagle section?!). It’s been too long since I’ve been excited about a video. I can’t wait to be glued to the TV screen once again!
